What Data We Collect and Why

Log Files and Usage Data

When you use the Service, our servers automatically record certain information about requests made to our servers. This includes your IP address, browser type, internet service provider, referring and exit pages, operating system, date and time of your request, and clickstream data.

We collect this data to analyze traffic trends, administer the Service, understand how users navigate our Service, and gather aggregate demographic information about our user base.

Lawful basis for UK and EU users: We process this data on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service.

Cookies and Local Web Storage

We use cookies on StretchClock.com. A cookie is a small text file stored on your device. The cookies we set directly are strictly necessary or functional: they store your license key, cookie consent preference, and login state. We do not use first-party cookies for analytics or marketing.

The StretchClock Web Reminder and Desktop Application use local storage mechanisms, including localStorage and IndexedDB, to store application settings and state locally on your device. This data is functional and does not include personally identifiable information.

You may reject cookies through your browser settings. If you do, most features of StretchClock.com will still be available to you. Note that disabling cookies or clearing local storage in the Web Reminder or Desktop Application may reset your preferences and locally stored data.

Lawful basis for UK and EU users: We process first-party cookies and local storage on the basis of our legitimate interests and contract performance, as all such storage is strictly necessary or functional. Your consent is sought only for cookies set by third-party video players embedded in the Service, which are outside our control.

Account Registration Data

If you register for a paid StretchClock account, we collect the personal information you provide at the time of registration, which may include your name and email address. We use this information to manage your account, process your subscription, and communicate with you about your Service.

Lawful basis for UK and EU users: We process this data on the basis of our contract with you and, where applicable, our legitimate interests in managing customer relationships.

Local Application Data

The StretchClock Web Reminder and Desktop Application store certain data locally on your device. This may include your stretch schedule, application preferences, usage history, and, for registered users, account information such as your name and email address. Some features of the Desktop Application function while your device is offline; data generated during offline use may be stored locally and synced to our servers when your device reconnects.

Data transmitted to our servers differs by platform and account type. When you use the Web Reminder, stretch requests are processed through standard web server logs, which record your IP address and request data. This information is not stored in our database. For registered paid users of the Web Reminder, your license ID is also transmitted for validation, and your stretch history is transmitted to determine your next scheduled stretch but is not stored on our servers. The Desktop Application may transmit certain data to our servers automatically in the background to support functionality, analytics, and service improvement. For all Desktop Application users, this may include: a randomly generated unique identifier (UUID) that is not linked to your name or email address on our servers; timestamps and categories of break activity such as video stretch, walk away from desk, or eye rest; and application preference settings such as stretch interval, audio reminder preferences, and UI theme. For registered paid users of the Desktop Application, this may additionally include your name, email address, and license ID for account management and, where applicable, group utilization reporting. We use automatically transmitted data to operate and improve the Service, analyze usage patterns, and generate de-identified aggregate reports. We do not associate free user UUID data with any personally identifiable information on our servers.

Lawful basis for UK and EU users: For registered paid users, we process automatically transmitted data on the basis of our contract with you. For all users, analytics and service improvement processing is carried out on the basis of our legitimate interests in understanding how the Service is used and improving it.

Diagnostic Data

The StretchClock Desktop Application may generate log files, usage data, and crash reports on your device. These files remain on your device and are not transmitted to us automatically.

In some cases, you may be asked or may choose to send diagnostic information to StretchClock for troubleshooting purposes. Any such transmission is user-initiated. Diagnostic files may contain technical information about your device and application state, and in some cases may include personal data. We use diagnostic data solely to investigate and resolve technical issues.

Lawful basis for UK and EU users: We process user-submitted diagnostic data on the basis of your consent, given at the time you choose to submit it.

Email Subscriptions

If you subscribe to our mailing list, we collect your email address. We use Mailchimp to manage our email list. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

Lawful basis for UK and EU users: We process your email address on the basis of your consent.

Third-Party Video Players

StretchClock.com, the StretchClock Web Reminder, and the StretchClock Desktop Application embed video players provided by Vimeo and YouTube. These players may set their own cookies on your device. We do not control those cookies. You can review the privacy practices of Vimeo at vimeo.com/privacy and of YouTube at policies.google.com/privacy.
